Movie List: The Good, the Bad, the Worth Watching

The stereotype of "Gay Movies" is that they are all coming out stories and are ALL terrible. Out of curiosity I've started three lists of movies that I have covered here on the blog. Again, not every movie ever, but only those I've written about here. Also, only ten per category (otherwise the list of bad would just go on and on and on). The categories being:
  • Good - by which I mean great movies although given that my tastes don't always match popular opinion, includes movies other people would think of as boring)
  • Bad - and by bad I mean really terrible (rather than so dull it's bad)
  • Worth Watching - that is the movie is neither great nor bad, but for one reason or another I think is worth seeing
Again, this is all obviously personal opinion:

"Good"movies:

"Bad" movies:

Worth Watching:
  • Can't Stop The Music (U.S. 1980): Camp made campier by pretending the Village People are straight
  • Fruit fly (U.S. 2009): A raw "gorilla" style filmed musical that while I love, may annoy musical purists
  • The Gay Deceivers (U.S. 1969): Pretending to be gay in the 60's to avoid the draft can be dangerous to your dating life. If nothing worth seeing as a "historical" piece
  • Guys and Balls (Männer wie wir) (Germany 2004): While a dopey comedy, it is the definitive "Gay Athlete Joins a Gay Team To Victory" movie. See this and you've essentially seen the entire sub-genre
  • The Last Straight Man (U.S. 2014): A married straight man and his gay best friend have a decade long affair. It has problems, but remains an interesting story of love and identity, though some find it dull and dislike its use of sex and nudity
  • Outrageous! (Canada 1977): Even if a story of a drag performer in 1970's Toronto does not sound interesting, the drag show performances are worth seeing
  • Some Of My Best Friends Are... (US 1971): Christmas eve in a gay bar in 1971. While the story is not exactly positive, it is an interesting look at history, and also stars a herd of 1970's TV stars
  • Vegas in Space (US 1991): A Drag Queen Sci Fi adventure that borders between insane and amazing
